I graduated from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) with a degree in Applied Computing. The skills and knowledge I gained through my studies have been instrumental in helping my family establish an online presence for our restaurant.
This website has been a labour of love — a bridge between my academic background and my family's passion for serving authentic Cantonese cuisine to the Ammanford community.
Website Structure & Design
This website was built using Astro — a modern static site framework that generates lightning-fast HTML pages with minimal JavaScript. Styling is powered by Tailwind CSS for responsive design. The site supports full bilingual content (English and Chinese), with all translations managed through a centralised dictionary.
Key sections include: an interactive takeaway menu with category filtering, platform review integration, a detailed contact page with Google Maps, a holiday schedule system, and comprehensive opening hours.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, providing global CDN delivery with automatic HTTPS and continuous deployment from Git.
The Role of AI in Building This Website
The development of this website was significantly enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence tools. AI acted as a collaborative partner throughout the process — helping to generate page structures, draft components, handle CSS styling, and manage the menu data with bilingual descriptions.
Tasks that would traditionally take hours were completed in minutes with AI assistance, allowing me to focus on creative direction and business logic. AI also proved invaluable for troubleshooting — debugging layout issues, fixing cross-browser compatibility, and optimising performance.
This project stands as a testament to how AI can empower individuals and small businesses — democratising access to high-quality web development.
